Case Studies

  • Multi-Award Winning XR Project: Soul Paint

Soul Paint is a multi-award winning virtual reality experience by Sarah Ticho & Niki Smit, backed by behavioural scientists and researchers.

Narrated by Rosario Dawson, this experience asks you the question: ‘Where are you feeling’?  By combining 3D drawing, playful embodied interaction and own introspection, you create an expressive 3D artwork about your own emotions and embodied sensations. You are invited to reveal your own unique inner reality and then observe the creations of others. This experience encourages new forms of embodied insight, allowing us to reflect on the diversity of human experience on an individual and global level.

Winner: SXSW XR Special Jury Awards | Games for Change: Best Health and Wellness | Kaohsiung XR Special Mention | Miami Film Gate Best Social Impact

  • Curation: Dreamy Place Embodied Realities

Embodied Realties plays with the boundaries of gaming and storytelling to explore the intricate tapestry of human existence. You are invited to explore the profound potential of immersive experiences to foster empathy, understanding, and compassion through stepping into the mind, bodies and identities of another.

“This afternoon has been amazing. A totally new experience for me - opening windows and providing insights of how VR can be used for understanding and well-being”

“It’s nice to experience something new/unusual with a crowd of strangers... this challenged my perception of technology as lonely, or isolating. It can in fact produce the complete opposite affect”.

  • The Growing Value of XR in Healthcare Report

Research and Policy: The Growing Value of XR in Healthcare Report

Hatsumi collaborated with Fiona Kilkelley and Ross O’Brien to fundraise, develop, write and manage The Growing Value of XR in Healthcare in the United Kingdom report.

This report was the first to explore the use and impact of extended reality technologies (XR) including virtual and augmented reality in the UK’s healthcare sector today. It has enabled government and public health services make informed decisions to ensure the UK is in the best position to realise the potential of XR in healthcare and ultimately improve the quality of people's lives.

This report led to the £20m investment into XR and mental health innovation via Innovate UK’s Mindset program, which our spin out organisation the XR Health Alliance, advises on.
